Wrestling Team Land Final Four Spot at County Dual Meet Tournament

The Connetquot High School wrestling team took part in the Suffolk County Dual Meet Tournament on Jan. 25 and 28. Of the county’s 52 schools with a wrestling program, only 16 qualified for the event.

The No. 13-seeded T-Birds performed well at the tournament, capturing wins over Smithtown West and Sachem East to secure a spot among the Suffolk Final Four.

The Connetquot wrestlers finished the dual meet season with an impressive record of 13-3.

Tight Competition for Lady T-Birds Basketball

Connetquot High School’s Lady T-Birds basketball team played a great game against visiting Lindenhurst on Jan. 27. The two teams were neck-and-neck throughout the event, volleying the lead position throughout the game. However, with 35 seconds left in the game and Connetquot down by only two points, the visitors managed to pull a last-minute victory, outscoring the T-Birds 46-42.
Madison Jasinski led Connetquot with 11 points, followed by 10 points from Victoria O’Toole and six from Karly Hokenson. Emma Buccini, Victoria D’Archangelis and Alexandra Ehrhardt contributed five points each.

“The team played hard and didn’t quit,” said coach Charlie Hafner. “We look forward to continued improvement and maturity as the season winds down.”

Connetquot’s four seniors have been providing leadership for the 10 underclassmen on the roster, who continue to demonstrate more confidence with each outing.
