Fifth-grade students at Bosti Elementary School were recently visited by local author and Connetquot High School graduate, Patrice Domozych, to hear about her children’s book, her love for writing and some tips on how to strengthen their own writing.

Mrs. Domozych’s book, titled “Hope is Here to Stay,” tells the story of 12-year-old Lauren Loose’s battle with pediatric cancer, and her efforts to help others fighting the same illness. Using illustrations, a slide show presentation and her book, Mrs. Domozych talked about Lauren, now 20 years old, and the other children who face serious challenges in their lives.

All proceeds from the book sales benefit the Lauren’s First and Goal Foundation, which was founded in Lauren Loose’s name and provides financial and emotional support for families whose children are affected by pediatric cancer. To this day, more than $800,000 has been raised toward the goal of finding a cure for the disease.
