CHS Lady T-Birds Basketball – Tough Loss to Half Hollow Hills

The Connetquot High School Lady T-Birds dropped a 58-36 decision to Half Hollow Hills East during their Jan. 16 home game. Although the T-Birds outscored the visitors in the third period, a strong bench and pressing defense from HHH East challenged the hometown team.

Senior Alexandra Ehrhardt led the T-birds with 13 points, including a three-pointer, while sophomore Dayna McCall chipped in with six. The balance of the Connetquot scoring was shared by eight players, including two points by eighth-grader Jenna Erdman.

While the T-birds’ roster contains 12 hardworking young ladies, it is a relatively young team, with only four seniors and 10 underclassmen.

Varsity Swim & Dive Team – Upset by Half Hollow Hills

The Connetquot High School swim and dive team took on first-place Half Hollow Hills at home on Jan. 18. Despite their best efforts, the meet was won by the visitors with a final decision of 100-80. The T-Birds now hold a record of 2-1 this season.

During the event, both the team and the community recognized the only senior on the Connetquot team, Blake Mikos, and congratulated him for his years of dedication to the Connetquot swim program.

Winning Day for Wrestling Team

Working to improve upon their impressive 10-1 record, Connetquot High School’s wrestling team welcomed Northport High School on Jan. 13 in what was the Connetquot seniors’ last home match.

Connetquot succeeded on each count, defeating Northport 35-33 and bringing their overall record to 11-1. Coach Bill Santoro praised the entire team for the victory and credited Steve Wilkinson’s and Danny Colondona’s pins as having secured the win.

The evening began with an introduction of the seniors and team captains, the presentation of gifts for the players, and a rose for each of the mothers who attended the match. Coach Santoro spoke to the supportive crowd about his team, especially the seniors who had worked hard and sacrificed for their teammates and the Connetquot community. He thanked each of the players and their families for their dedication and support and assured them that he would follow them as they move forward in their wrestling careers.

The district congratulates the following seniors for their dedication to the program and for being a source of pride in the community: Nick Abrahamsen, Matt Augulis, Jeffry Brown, Danny Colondona, Rob Conklin, Daniel Espineira, Paul North, Andrew Nunez, Matt Raynor, Jacob Sitka, Joe Stapleton, Nick Stolfa and Tyler Viola.
