Girls Basketball – Late December Game Against Northport

Before the holiday break, Connetquot High School’s Lady T-Birds basketball team suffered a loss to visiting Northport High School. After a tough start, the T-Birds rebounded and finished within five points of their opponents in the second half of the game. The Northport’s team kept the pressure on the young Connetquot players, and as a result of forced turnovers, the visitors came away with a commanding 56-29 win. 

Connetquot’s lead scorers were Karly Hokenson with 11 points, followed by Victoria O’Toole with eight points. Five other team members worked collaboratively to contribute the remainder of the points.

Girls Basketball – Lady T-Birds Fall to Walt Whitman

Connetquot High School’s Lady T-Birds basketball team, coming off two consecutive wins against Patchogue-Medford (43-33) and Lindenhurst (48-46), entered their Jan. 5 game ready to take on first-place Walt Whitman High School. Although the ladies kept it competitive into the third period, Whitman's size and depth proved to be a determining factor, taking the win by a final score of 67-42.

Amanda Ehrhart led Connetquot with eight points, with Carly Hokenson and Shannon Dent scoring six points each. The T-Birds stand with an overall record of 3-5 (1-3 in league competition).

Wrestling – T-Birds Pin a Win Against Sachem North

Connetquot High School’s wrestling team maintained its undefeated League II status by defeating Sachem North on Jan. 5, and the team now stands alone in first place with an overall record of 9-1 (3-0 in league competition).

The T-Birds won 11 matches against Sachem’s Flaming Arrows, including pins by Dalton Otto, Daniel Espineira and Steven Wilkinson. Connetquot’s Danny Colondona, who is 15-1 so far this season, defeated Connor Green by a score of 14-1. Colondona was also selected as Newsday’s Athlete of the Week in its Jan. 5 issue, and was selected to the All-Suffolk County Wrestling Team in 2016.


Swim & Dive Team – Impressive Win Against Northport High School

Congratulations to the Connetquot High School swim and dive team on their Jan. 5 win against rival Northport High School. The T-Birds finished their recent meet with a final score of 89-80.

During the contest, Grady Olsen won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:52.48 and Dylan Macejko won the 100-yard freestyle in 51:12.00. The team’s season record now stands at 1-1.
