In an effort to ensure that students are equipped with the knowledge needed to make healthy choices and staying safe, Edward J. Bosti and Idle Hour Elementary Schools recently hosted important educational programs centered on the topics of stranger danger and saying no to drugs and alcohol.

Through an interactive puppet presentation, provided by Matt Barbis and Patrick Chierichella, Bosti students learned about the dangers that can exist in dealing with strangers. Throughout the event, the presenters spoke about strategies students can develop with the help of their families to minimize those dangers. The program was provided courtesy of the Rose Brucia Foundation.

Idle Hour Elementary School students and staff learned about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle during a recent visit with Suffolk County Police Officer Wendy Verlotte. As part of the Suffolk County Police Department “Police Smart” Health and Safety program, Officer Verlotte used a multi-media presentation to share age-appropriate information with students, on topics such as the dangers of smoking, as well as the use of illegal drugs.
