Connetquot-Sayville High Schools Ice Hockey Team Honors Graduating Seniors with Exciting 3-3 Tie

The Connetquot-Sayville High Schools ice hockey team honored its dedicated seniors on Jan. 19 at the Rinx in Hauppauge, New York. Facing crosstown competitor Sachem High School, the team tied the visitors 3-3 to the delight of its large, loud and supportive crowd. Mark Radzewsky scored two goals and Jack McAteer scored another for the Thunderbirds. Chris Biava, John Bozinos and Liam Doyle earned one assist apiece.

The T-Birds scored 57 goals in their 20-game season. Congratulations to the Connetquot-Sayville ice hockey team, with special thanks for the leadership of this year’s graduating seniors: Tom Arceri, Mark Barker, Chris Biava, Sean Ferry, Spencer Gray, Logan Hays, John Maloney, Jack McAteer, Mark Radzewsky, Tom Rothburd, Tyler Schiebe and Dylan Vigna.

Connetquot High School Boys Basketball Bows to Riverhead

Despite a strong opening first quarter, the Connetquot T-Birds boys basketball team finished second in its Jan. 29 League II game at home against Riverhead. Connetquot got off to a strong start and was within three points (12-9) as the second period began. However, the visitors opened a 35-20 advantage by the half. Their full court pressure caused dozens of turnovers, leading to a final score of 79-49.

Connetquot is now 1-9 in conference play. Top scorers for the T-Birds were Aidan Orgonas with 18 points, followed by Johnny Melville’s 9 and Jake Riegger’s 7 points. The Connetquot High School boys basketball program will celebrate its graduating seniors with a ceremony prior to its Feb. 6 game against Sachem North.
