Connetquot High School’s Student Government Association members recently met with New York State Sen. Phil Boyle to learn more about the work of the state government.
The senator’s session at Connetquot High School focused on getting the students’ feedback on what they felt he could do to further support their educational experience. In addition, he discussed his role as a senator, what it’s like to work in government and how he is working with the community to address pertinent issues in the state.
“I thought the kids received him well and asked some really good questions,” said Student Government adviser Jennifer Piscitelli. “I liked how, regardless of party lines, he encouraged the students to get involved in government service and to volunteer. I believe that students can learn so much about their community if they do so.”
