- STEM Summer Prep
- For freshmen only to dip their toes into science research in partnership with BNL
- SPARK Program (Student Partnerships for Advanced Research and Knowledge)
- High school students (15 years and older) work on scientific data analysis and proposal writing year-round to gain an understanding of the capabilities of facilities including the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS II) and the Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN)
- Science Research teachers can also participate
- High School Research Program (HSRP)
- For students who are interested in pursuing STEM studies, this highly competitive six-week program for students to collaborate with BNL's scientific staff on programs that support the Department of Energy's mission to ensure America's security and prosperity while addressing energy, environmental and nuclear challenges

Barcode Long Island (in collaboration with Stony Brook University, BNL, and the American Museum of Natural History)
- Students in grades 9-12 research genetic biodiversity on Long Island and its surrounding waters

Disease research on ticks gathered by Suffolk County DoH employees and on mosquitoes gathered using Suffolk County's light traps, for microbiome and Barcode Long Island projects.

Student members of SNHS have been working for three years at the Pickman-Remmer Wetlands
- Help lessen the risk of community flooding along the banks of the Connetquot River
- Planting native land and aquatic plant species, trees, arranging rock walls, creating gravel walkways, mulching beds, and weeding to foster a healthy ecosystem and beautify conserved properties in southern Oakdale
- Idle Hour students have also attended in the past
